Booth did not always criticize plans during his spell as an MEP, and in 2006 through his weight behind a campaign to build a seafood park at Newlyn Coombe. The park, which was designed to help preserve the history of fishing at Newlyn was proposed to be built in a Greenfield site, and as such planning permission was becoming more difficult to find.
Booth argued that the needs of the community, and the interests of preserving fishing in the area outweighed the need to preserve the land and called for a deal to be made.
